Another satisfying Saturday

Well my last alarm didn’t get off this morning so i work up about 45 min later than i wanted but thankfully i still have plenty of time. I ran a trail 10k this morning, which was actually 5.5 miles because some of the trail washed out and was being repaired. I will review the race in another post.

Then i had the house to myself which was so nice.
I watched the last hunger games which i had yet to see

Ate some leftover sweet and sour rice and veggies

And i made my second blue apron meal this week. Delicious quiche.

First time i have ever shelled peas lol.
I made a few changes to the recipe, i put the shallots in the quiche and some of the pea shoots in as well instead of making the accompanying salad.

I actually had to put them back in for an extra 15ish minutes to cook longer.

Stitchfix #2!!!!

My stylist nailed it this time!!!!!! It was so hard not to keep it all!

So first there were magenta crop pants which thankfully were a little too small or i may have kept the whole order and got the 5 peice 25% discount. Obviously i sent them back.

I actually really liked this purse but i tend to use one purse until its falling apart before i buy another one so i sent it back.

I did really like this blazer as well, but i have 2 blazers so i couldn’t justify buying it.

Now for the 2 items i did keep…….

I love the pattern on this and the fit. I kept this.

This was my favorite thing! The pattern is so fun and great for spring. And sooooo comfortable. Its stretchy material.

So i kept those 2 items and my $20 styling fee went toward these.

Date Night

So the plan was to wake up early and get to the pool and swim before spin class. But 4:30am came and i so did not want to get out of bed. So i didn’t lol. I slept in and cuddled with my dog until 5:10 then jumped up and rushed to get ready and walked into spin class 5 min late.

I left spin class 5 min early to change and hit the pool.

My tracking messed up i think i hit 600m but oh well.

Then off to a day of work. Then i met a guy from Eharmony for dinner. I didn’t have super high hopes and i didn’t think he was that great looking in his pictures (though i am learning the older i get that personality and clicking im person is becoming more and more important), also we didn’t talk that much before meeting so i didn’t have much invested. We went to a nice little place in Oregon city, the conversation flowed well and he was nice. I didn’t feel the immediate desire to jump his bones (which is probably a good thing lol it will allow me to think clearer) but i would be happy to see him again.

And with that it is bed time for me. No AM workout tomorrow but that means if im asleep in the next 20 min i can get 9 hours!!!!!!!

A satisfying Wednesday night

Howdy!!!

Well i got home at about 6:10 today and Blue Apron was waiting for me!!

You probably noticed i hadn’t had blue apron in awhile. It got to the point where i wasnt cooking everything or i didn’t love everything. Dont get me wrong, nothing was ever bad just some of it wasn’t to my taste so i was wasting things. And at $60/box that was unacceptable. So i took some time off and now my rule for myself is, id every meal in the box doesn’t look amazing then i skip it.

While cooking i managed to get a load of laundry washed and in the drying and a 2nd load into the washer.

Garlic and almonds (i added onion)

Add kale.
I added some aspargus, yellow squash and zucchink squash that i had in the fridge.

I also had an extra salmon fillet in the freezer i thawed and cooked. With my few additions i made this into 3 meals instead of 2 :mrgreen:

Though i didnt eat it tonight i did taste it and YUM!!!! The freekah (grain thing) with the fresh veggies and lemon juice perfectly balances the spiced salmon. At least in my opinion.
And 2 helpings went in the freezer. 

I also emptied the dishwasher and got another load started. And now 3 hours after i got home its time for bed so i can get up and workout in the AM before work.

What does a productive night look like for you?

My small life

It’s funny how our lives  lives go through cycles, this time last year my life and my community consisted of hudreds of through hikers and through hiking blog readers. Some of that is still a part of my life, i may not be a through hiker but i am a hiker. But now i am back in Oregon and my life consists of going to work, working out, hanging at home with my dog and the occasional date. Yes i am part of the running community and am becoming part of the triathlon community but i am very much alone up here.

Don’t worry this is not a pity party post.

But really, none of my immediate family is here, i have no close friends here. The one wonderful woman i hung out with on a regular basis moved to the other side of the country. I am averaging seeing 1 other woman and her fiance about once every other month. But that is it. So it’s time to take the bull by the horns.

I have made exercise a priority and now meeting people will be as well.

I have joined 2 book groups and RSVP’d to these groups April event so yay.

Also i joined a few running groups and RSVP’d to a short run the weekend after the tulip festival ends. I WILL put myself out there. I need to build a base of people here.

If you are interested in meeting people I used Meetup.com there is something for everyone.

On a side note i got lots of planting done last night!

Wednesday- RUn 6 min, Walk 2 min X 6

Thursday- AM swim with trainer

Friday- OFF

Saturday- Trail 10k race!!!!!!!

Sunday- OFF

It is an off week for me, starting the work on the weekends wiped me out as did the time change and i think i might have the edge of something so i am mostly taking it easy. One easy week in the hopes that nothing gets worse.

Weekend Wrap up

Well i had my alarm set to get up and go to the gym to swim before going to work at the tulip festival, 5:30am came around and no. I decided i needed the extra hour of sleep.

This sign reminds me of the story of how my parents met, or at least the story i was told lol. My mom was working as a gardener at LBCC and my dad was working as security and he walked by her bent over gardening one day and thought ‘I have to have that A**”. Whether this is true or not, I love the story lol.

It was raining today so i got to go home at 12:45 instead of 4. I got home and once again knew if i sat down i wasn’t getting back up so i unloaded the dishwasher and reloaded. I started getting the pot ready to plant my onion seeds

Annnnd ran out of soil lol. So i will be buying some on my lunch break tomorrow.
After that i wrote some correspondence

Post cards!!!! Yep i still enjoy snail mail. Then i finally sat down/laid down for a little while.

Around 5:15 i got up and got dressed. My Uncle and his wife are in town looking around so they took me to dinner then i showed them around a bit.

I came back home and had every intention of going to sleep early to hit the gym but that didn’t happen. I got sucked into 3 episodes of Veronica Mars. So baring an aqua arobics class i will be swimming tomorrow night.

Saturday happenings

Day 1 of a very exhausting 7 weeks.

Except for the 3 days i have races i will be working Saturday and Sunday for the next 7 weeks at a tulip festival. I am working 7 hours a day along with my normal 40 hour/week job and my training.

Today was my first day at the festival. 7 hours on my feet which is not something i have done in a very long time. It is fun and doesn’t really feel like work which is nice but man is hard on the body until you get used to it.

They have booths and rides and obviously tulips and u-pick fields and all kinds of stuff.

I tried to pack a lunch but ate it as a snack so i got a garden burger for my lunch.

My feet were already crazy sore when i got home and my body was exhausted but i needed to run and i knew if i sat down i wasn’t getting back up. So i had a quick snack and Artemis and I set out for a run. My goal was 6 miles but by 2 miles my feet were alternating between feeling like they were on fire and sharp pain so we headed home. My 6 mile run became a 2.5 mile run.

I am very thankful that i have the ability to stop myself so i can recover and not seriously injure myself. I have so many races planned this year i will not let pride or stupidity get in my way.

Happy Friday!!!!! I am going to try and keep this short because i took the other dream water that i bought earlier in the week and its kicking in.

Most of work was good today. The department i work in had a little pot luck for belated St. Patty’s day.

We had 2 delicious soups, both vegetarian :mrgreen: and some delicious gluten free dairy free corn bread with vegan honey butter.

My contribution was veggies and fruit.

Another coworker brought fruit and donut holes……i may have  had a few too many of those lol. I snacked all day.

I had some surprises waiting for me at home, well not really suprises since i ordered them lol.

My Road ID came!!! It’s basically an ID bracelet witn emergency contact information and relevant information for emergency responders. Since i dont have a training parter i figured it was time to be responsible. There is even room for a fun saying!
Mine says: Beast mode, you got this.

My triathlon shorts came!!! Cant wait to run in them this weekend amd bike in them on Tuesday! I ordered a top too but it was a bit snug so i am going to return it and go up a size.

I enjoyed some ‘ you’ve got mail’ tonight. Such a cute movie. And yes the TV in my room is a million years old lol. But it works so I’m good.

Dual workout and barkbox

Woke up at 3:30 this morning!!!!! Though i laid in bed and played on my phone and cuddled with the dog until 4. Hit the gym and did 20 min the water.

I knew it was going to be a hard day when i rolled out of bed this morning  and was sore all over from training and running yesterday.

My waterbottle was at that point where it was starting to get gross so i broke down and out it in the dish washer. Bought gatorade at the gym

I tried to be good and not go overboard. The first half was delicous then i started feeling horrible but eat these kinds of sweets so infrequently that i forced myself to finish it and felt bloated and gross for like 2 hours. Old habits die hard.

My new vitamins arrived. I track my food in myfitnesspal and one of the things it has shown me is that i never hit my daily calcium goal so i will start taking these a few days a week to combat that a bit.

It is always interesting to see what Artemis is going to like toy wise and what she is going to ignore. Anything Artemis doesn’t want Jasper, my roommates dog, will eventually adopt as his own.

I am feeling a little lonely tonight. I miss having a boyfriend, i miss having my girls around for dinner dates and coffee dates. I am doing a lot better with my  breakup and getting back out there but some nights i still get really sad and lonely. Mostly when i disappointed by the state of men and dating today and get depressed that I’ll never find someone.
This too shall pass.
