Beach Getaway

Along with a crappy start to the week I had a great time at the beach with a great guy.

It was perfect Oregon coast weather.

We had pizza, coffee, and relaxed and watched movies. Cuddled by an awesome wood stove

Artemis loved the beach but hated the house she didn’t know

Along with all the food and cuddling we also walked/ran up a giant san dune two days in a row

Artemis loved running around

We ran up and down the beach both days as well and did some exploring.

Have you been to the Oregon coast?

Current Life

Happy Hump Day!!!!!!

I got up and went to an AM spinning class, being active feels so good and keeps any stress and depression away. It was very obvious that I hadn’t taken a spin class in awhile……I wanted to die.

I went at about 75% of my max and was still dead at the end

Need to get my butt to spin class more often.

Stopped at the store to pickup a prescription and grabbed some much needed broke people food

Actually I just like to have stock on hand for when a craving hits or I don’t feel too good. I’m not broke yet thankfully.

Lots of laundry going on

A short but powerful thunderstorm hit and the puppies freaked out. I got some cuddles

I had great (but unhealthy) leftovers for lunch

My man took me out for a sorry you got fired, but yay you can sleep in dinner hahahaha!!! I love Mexican food.

Weekly Check in

Time to check in and see if i made it to all my workouts. Comments will be in bold.

Here was the plan:

Monday: Insanity Day 1 Did not happen, I came home and just wanted to cuddle with my dog.

Tuesday: PM Strength training and 1 mile fast (for me lol) 12 min mile pace then .1 mile hills x 6 at a 2 incline DONE!!!! Though it was 5 hills instead of 6 because i felt good and did the last hill as .2 miles instead of .1. It felt good, i wasn’t dead after which is awesome progress.

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: PM Strenght training and 2.5 miles at tempo (12:30, see i told you i am slow) did not happen, took the day off

Friday: OFF actually ran 1.5 miles before heading to the beach

Saturday: Am Spin class followed by 450m swim ran 1.5 miles on the beach and hiked up a giant sand dune

Sunday: 5 miles slow and yoga ran/walked 2.5 miles all over the beach  and up a giant sand dune

How i did: i feel ok with how i did but it could have been better

What i could have done better: not skipped Mondays workout

How was my food consumption: ugh not bad but not great. Ate out Thursday through Sunday

Comment and let me know how your workouts went this week.

Run like Hell 5k Review

Hi!!!

This is a very late post but here is my review for the Portland Run like Hell 5k.

Costumes were optional but the majority of people dressed up which made it so much fun!

20161023_080904-1

My roommate and i dressed up as Batman and Robin.

Check in and packet pickup was pretty effortless for this race, it was very well organized. They had a small bag drop as well which was much appreciated becuase it was a little chilly and i had not bought a throw away jacket. They also provided some small snacks and water before the race which i was thankful for. There were a lot of porta poties, all clean, so very few lines.

The race itself was super fun, it ran through downtown Portland and was well maintained and coordened off. At about 2 miles they had an aid station which had water, some kind of electrolyte drink and were offering energy gels also if wanted, i split one with my roommate so we could make it through and speed up at the end.

After the race they had beer of course but they also had CIDER!!!

That made me happy and i was tipsy after 1.5 ciders, dont worry i wasn’t driving. They also were handing out chips, and peanut butter toast, and Cliff Bars. They were well stocked.

All in all our little group (there were 5 of us) had a blast!!! We all signed up for the Bridge to Brews 10k so we will see you in April!!!

Carra, my roommate, purchesed the medal to commemorate her first 5k!

Also even though i felt great and wasn’t really trying, i PR’d by about 20 seconds!!! Yay for training.

Here are a few of my stats.

Check out that hear rate! woot woot!

Running and Pasta

Sunday morning the roomie and I went for a run. 4 miles was the goal

we got lucky and it was a beautiful day

It was a good Sunday.

Yesterday  i enjoyed a little walk at lunch

Last night I ate pasta and made pasta.

I made stouffers lasagna and had a salad for dinner

Then made stuffed shells for my lunches for the week. It’s amazing how easy they are to make.

Boil pasta

Make whatever filling you would like

Mine is ricotta, spinach, carrot and onion

Stuff the shells and cover in spaghetti sauce

Then throw in the over for about 10 min

I may have also had a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on it for dessert.

Since I’ve been gone

So last week and the beginning of this week were rough for me. I have battled depression and mood highs and lows since i was 16. I have seen therapists and physiologists. I have been a bindge drinker, bindge eater and cutter. Thankfully after my dad died my mom and brother found me a great Dr who didn’t just prescribe meds but took the time to work through my, at the time current, issues and teach me tools to pull myself out of that dark place when i went there. He knew it would be a lifelong battle for me and probably saved my life. Before him i was headed down a bad path. I have never been and will never be ashamed of past or of the fact that i deal with this. Feeling the extreme lows also means I get to feel the extreme highs, I get to love deeper and more often then most people becuase I wear my emotions on my sleeve. Yes it can be difficult and painful but it can also be joyous and wonderous. I will have an adventure filled life, the battle is simply to do it on a healthy way which is why i am so passionate about eating healthy and being active.

That being said lets catch up.

My sweet coworker got me flowers and candy to cheer me up om the anniversary of my dads death

Friday Artemis and I got up with the sun and went for the shortest run ever lol

I wasnt super happy about getting out of bed lol

Friday night we went to the vet, Artemis had to get her shots. Shes up to date and protected now!

Then we relaxed to make sure she didnt have any reactions

Saturday we pretty much just relaxed and she slept a lot. Recovering from the shots

I caught this wonderful picture when she yawned

Saturday night/Sunday morning i hit rock bottom and took a nap after only being awake an hour then layed in bed and cried. I made myself get out of bed and go for a walk with Artemis

We went 3 miles. And i reached out to family and friends to keep an eye on me for self-destructive behavior.

After the walk i went grocery shopping and did meal prep

I love to cook so this helped my mood a lot.

Each day i am climbing out of the dark. Today was a good day and i am almost back to normal! Thankfully these lows only happen 2-3 times a year depending on the year sometimes even less.

Went for a walk with the roommate tonight

And my cowoker finished a really interesting book and gave it to me to ready. Only on the 2md chapter and im hooked! Can’t wait to keeo reading

Thats it for me!!

If anyone ever suffers from suicidal thoughts or self-destructive behavior or severe depression please reach out to someone. You are not alone, i know it feels like you are, but you are not.

Owwww

I brought my rumning clothes to run at lunch again. By the time i hit a 1/2 mile i knew this was going to suck. My left calf was soooo tight. It hurt!!!

I stopped a few times to stretch it out

At least there are some pretty places around work to run

I pushed and made it to 3 miles. I walked at least 1/3 of the 3 miles

After work i took miss Artemis for a walk

She hasn’t been getting out as much since i have been running at lunch and busy after work.

After the walk i met my friend at the gym for an easy 30 min strength session. We were both sore so we took it semi-easy.

When i got home from the gym my roommate and i cleaned up the living room. I’ll post picks soon.

I found my tablet and got it charged so the studying os back on!!

Another accomplished day. And now it is sleep time. Sweet Dreams All!!!
