Book on Tape review

Lately i have gotten a little sick of listening to music when i run, i can only hear the same song so many times before it looses all motivation, so i changed to books on tape. I also like plugging one of these in at work when i need to buckle down and get work done.

Side note, i have ADD so engaging half my brain with a book allows the other half to buckle down and work for longer periods of time than normal.

I listen to all different kinds of books and i shop audible’s sales and things like that.

This actually sounded like a really interesting book and it was. Yes they describe the rapes but I didnt feel that i was overly graphic. I cant believe how sucky the justice system is to rape victims, no not all places are horrible to the victim but some really do suck and that is moslty what the book was about.

Overall i found it to be an intersting book and something intersting to listen to while i ran. No it didnt freak me out, this wasnt about the people who jump out of a bush and attached a random passerby this was about aquantance rape.

Book binge day 1

image

I finished the Terri Blackstone book and The lady of the rivers,  I had about 1/3 of each of those books left

image

I started outlander book 1 and am half way through it and I watched the first 2 episodes of the TV show on Amazon.com so far it follows the book quite closely.

I have literally been reading all day. From about 8-8:30am I went to the grocery store but the rest of the day was spent on the couch with my nose in a book or watching an Episode of a book I was ready. I would guess I’ve read about 500 pages today and watched 3 hours of TV shoes. Now it’s time to pass out. Good night.

Are you reading anything good right now?

Do you ever book binge?

Saturday stuff

I didn’t set an alarm this morning and did it was wonderful. I love sleeping in. Of course now sleeping in for me is 8am so yea.

Roommate and I took the dogs to the dog park, then off we headed to the gym

image

image

image

I also did the stair master for 7 min. That sh*t is tough!!!

After that my day was spent just relaxing and spending time with my dog since I’ve been out late the last 2 nights.

I made a yummy lunch (with lots of leftovers, happy face)

image

And treated myself to a Starbucks

image

My last one as I am going to try to cut out all refined sugar.  One day at a time Ariana, heck one meal at a time for me.

Then Stitchfix showed up! The only bad thing is it showed up early and I am broke until payday next Friday. Thankfully most of it is not flattering this box around. The only thing I wish I could have kept is the dress.

image

Skirt. It has pockets which is awesome and is semi pleated but doesn’t rock my world

image

A close up of the top, so unflattering

image

Another top,  again it just doesn’t sit well on my body. Like at all.

image

image

The dress. I actually like it and it’s not something I would normally wear so I would have loved to push myself outside my comfort zone but oh well, maybe next time. So I kept nothing and will send it all back next week.
Oh and there was a jacket I forgot to take a picture of but it was too big.

image

Mmmmm breakfast for dinner.

image

Just started reading this. So far I like it.

How was your Saturday?

How much does it suck to live paycheck to paycheck?
A lot!!!
What are you reading right now?

What is the last piece of clothing you bought?

Weekend Wrap up

Let’s see, Friday night I finished my book for book club the meeting is on Tuesday.

Saturday I got up and went to spin class

image

Then met my friend/co-worker at the farmers market

image

I got pita bread and humans and tabouli

image

Some flipping delicious local honey, I am eating a spoonful a day to help with allergies, I also started putting it in tea

image

I got more strawberries, and some local eggs and spring onions. I was craving eggs, I had them yesterday and today. They are half gone already lol.

The rest of the weekend for me was about reading and resting after having to deal with these allergies. How do people do this? I am feeling better. But only feel about 90%

image

image

It has been an overcast and rainy weekend. Actually I love it

image

Books and tea.

image

Got the coffee pot ready for tomorrow, finishing off this sample I bought in Hawaii

image

Use the pita bread to make myself a little pizza for dinner.

How was your Weekend?
How do you like to spend a rainy weekend?
How do you deal with allergies?

Halfway through the week

Happy Thursday!!!!!

Yesterday was insane! Work was crazy in the afternoon, i was here late and collapsed when i got home.

Yesterday morning i did swim training which went really well.

20160504_131359

20160504_131345

i needed sugar and caffiene. No i do not normally drink energy drinks, in fact i almost never energy drinks but this week has been crazy.

51TlomfiPIL._SX376_BO1,204,203,200_

just started this book on tape this morning and i am LOVING it!!! It is so cute!!! The reader reminds me of Steve Martin when he was in Father of the Bride.

Got my last check from the tulip festival which will get me through to my next paycheck and help me pay some of my last personal training payment.

Speaking of money……..i dont know if i told you this yet or not, but my landlord has decided to sell our house. We get a great deal on rent because one of my roommates is sort of friends with the landlord. He said he would try and find someone who wanted to keep us on but even if that happens our rent will increase probably exponentially. So now i have to see what happens and whether i will be staying or having to find a new place or what is going to happen. But my spending money is sure going to decrease A LOT.

Well whatever comes i have my training to keep me sane.

Talk to you soon!!!!

The day off from working out

I love my days off. Granted they have been a little more frequent than they should lately. But I love them, especially because I am so tired lately with all this working. Thankfully this is the last weekend of the tulip festival so I will have my weekends back. Regular work is getting crazy, I am getting at least half an hour of overtime I think almost every day this week. Its good and bad, I like the extra money obviously but at some point the money isn’t worth the life I’m giving up. Thankfully we are not at that point yet haha haha.

I’ve have started back at episode 1

image

The anthem of single women. At least it is mine lol. I identify most with Carrie. Whenever i need to get re-psyched up for dating, or recover from dating debauchles (or however it is spelled).

In other news if you like books like the hunger games, maze runner, and divergent, mixed with a little bachelor check out the series that is on sale on audible

image

It was a fun listen and got me through a crazy day at work.

And now it’s bedtime so i can get up an spin tomorrow.
Goodnight!

Bookclub from Meetup.com

Last time i lived in Oregon i tried meetup.com. There was a country bar like 5 min from my apartment and there was a weekly meetup group there on the night they had free line dancing lessons. I RSVP’D one night and several other people had RSVP’D. I showed up and could not find them anywhere, i asked the waitress who asked the bartender but no one knew anything about it. I was there so i stayed got a drink or two and line danced but that was the extent of my meetup experience.

I decided to try again and signed up for a book club. I read the book and we met tonight and i LOVED it!!!! It was super fun and everyone was nice. I had a blast and am so glad i went. Annnnd the woman whose house it is at runs a meetup that i RSVP’D to next week!!! I think i may have found some groups :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

How do you meet people and make friends?

My small life

It’s funny how our lives  lives go through cycles, this time last year my life and my community consisted of hudreds of through hikers and through hiking blog readers. Some of that is still a part of my life, i may not be a through hiker but i am a hiker. But now i am back in Oregon and my life consists of going to work, working out, hanging at home with my dog and the occasional date. Yes i am part of the running community and am becoming part of the triathlon community but i am very much alone up here.

Don’t worry this is not a pity party post.

But really, none of my immediate family is here, i have no close friends here. The one wonderful woman i hung out with on a regular basis moved to the other side of the country. I am averaging seeing 1 other woman and her fiance about once every other month. But that is it. So it’s time to take the bull by the horns.

I have made exercise a priority and now meeting people will be as well.

I have joined 2 book groups and RSVP’d to these groups April event so yay.

Also i joined a few running groups and RSVP’d to a short run the weekend after the tulip festival ends. I WILL put myself out there. I need to build a base of people here.

If you are interested in meeting people I used Meetup.com there is something for everyone.

On a side note i got lots of planting done last night!

image

Planted 3 small rows of onions in this 10 gal smart pot

image

Got 2 rows lf corn and peas in each brown planter and planted 2 potatoes in the potato bag

image

The bottom opens for easy harvesting!

How are you?
How long did it take you to establish your base of people where you live now?
How did you do it?

Weekend Wrapup

Noooooooo!!!!! It’s sunday night again.
Back to the grind we go.

Yesterday i hit the pool for a little 30min workout.

image

image

Then in the afternoon it was off to an orientation meeting because i will be working weeknds at a festival up here at the farm my roommate works out for the next 7 weeks. Except the 3 days i have races.

Dinner was the delicious Salmon and veggies i had made Friday night with a southwest salad.

image

image

And i watched Kiss The girls since i finished the book.

image

Sunday it was long run day. 5 miles

image

I taped my knees to be safe since they were sore at the end of the week.

I took the dog out running with me. We only got about half a mile until the drizzle started to pour then turned into hail. She didnt like that too much so we turned around and brought her
back home.

image

image

Then i went back out and braved the  elements to run 5 more miles. It misted, rained, poured and hailed. It was in interesting run lol.

image

image

image

image

Me looking like a drowned rat after my run. Also i look like i was crying. I am guessing that is the rain running all my sweat into my eyes.

And now its sleep time.

How was your weekend?

Do your weekends fly by too?

Weekend Wrap up

The rain managed to actually stay away most of the weekend which was lovely.  It hit Saturday night and late today afternoon/evening.

Last night poor Artemis didnt feel too good. Her tummy was making all kinds of crazy sounds and she wasn’t hungry. She got better though thankfully and when i woke up her food was eaten and she has gotten better and better today.

image

image

My guess is she either ate something she shouldn’t have or just had a little upset tummy. Either way it just needed to work its way out of her system which it did today.

The roomies and i FINALLY took our tree down…….yes i mean Christmas tree lol. It only took us until March..not too bad right? Lol

On another but way worse roomie note, my roommates care got stolen out of our driveway last night?! I feel so bad for her. I am so thankful my car has an alarm and GPS so the cops can track it if anything ever happens. Knock on wood.

Other sad news i own almost 5k in medical bills from my surgery in October. Insurance denied my paying more because it was an out of network provider. Oy, this being an adult stuff rocks. Thankfully i can set up a payment plan.

In happier news…..
The tomato and pepper starters are exploding!!!

image

I am so excited!

Also i ran 4 miles today!!! And the 4 miles we outside!!!!

image

image

Artemis ran the first 1.5 miles with me then she got tired so i dropped her off at home. Shes getting over  her tummy troubles so i didn’t want to push it.

So i workout a pretty good amount. These are the things that help keep me going. Along with pre-workout, protien and recovery but ill talk about that another day.

image

I also did a lot of reading this weekend which was glorius.

image

Do you take any suppliments?

What’s the weather like where you are?

If you have dogs, do they run with you?
