Snow day!!

Classes were cancelled due to snow! As happy as I was to sleep in it also stressed me out a little since school is so important to me this time around. Oh well. Deep breathe and let it go.

I had a delicious breakfast

Got some studying done

Yummy snacks

My roommate brought me back a little snack from her trip to Peru

Very nice!!!

I walked to the store again because the streets were still icy and why risk it in a car. I needed to get some stuff for the white chicken chili I’m gonna put in the slow cooker tomorrow morning to simmer away all day.

My bags were considerably heavier walking, i should have brought a backpack to carry the groceries back more comfortably.

Walking on the paths in the snow made me think of the PCT, I miss it. A definite goal for me this year is to get out and hike at least 100 miles of it, hopefully more.

That is dedication

Howdy!!! How is your day going?

It’s snow all around over here

It started last night I am guessing somewhere around 6:30-7pm. I looked out around 6 and it was raining then I stepped outside at 8:45 to drive to the gym and this was what I saw

Still i had a workout to get to. I drove to the gym with little incident until the street the gym was on I almost got stuck. But I was there and my plan was to watch Bones while I ran……but it was snowing so heavy the TV’s were out, that made me pause. I was there so I busted out a mile on the treadmill then hightailed it out of there because I knew the longer i waited the more difficult it would be to get home.

I slipped and slid and got stuck once or twice but I kept my cool (thank you Nevada for teaching me how to drive in the snow in a small sedan hahahhaha)

I got home and let her run a bit, she loves the snow until she stops running and she gets cold

Then it was pasta time!

And a relaxing movie before bed

When i woke up, it was STILL SNOWING!

It was beautiful outside…..until i realized i had no cream for coffee…..how do i study without coffee???!!! The snow had stopped coming down so i walked the 1.5 miles round trip to the store. That was my workout for today lol. I definitely worked up a sweat, walking through inches of snow is a workout.

It was beautiful

I made it back and it’s study time

I have taken over the coffee table

You’ve got water, coffee, syllabus, bio book, anatomy flashcards, a yummy smelling candle from my man and of course my personal training book in my lap.

Artemis romped around in the snow a bit when i got back from the store and now she’s passed out hahaha!!

Dinner tonight is a delicious turkey stew i made a few months ago and threw some extra in the freezer.

What is on your schedule for today?

Day 1 back to school!

I had a nice easy morning. I finally finished the last chapter in my personal training certification program, now i do some extra studying for the next 1.5 weeks and schedule the exam.

In the afternoon I had my first lab for biology 101

After class i had a healthy snack

And headed to the gym. Got in a 2.5 mile run

Did some speed intervals

Dinner was leftover beef and brocolli

Found the recipe on pintrest

It was delicious.

I hoped into bed early and put in a movie

A little sex and the city movie on my ancient but still thankfully functioning TV.

I had a little snack of doritos and croutons lol

This weekend I am hitting the bulk bins at Winco to make myself a healthy-ish and delicious trail mix to snack on.

And now its early to bed so I can early to rise for my 8am class.

Have you worked out lately?

Any new life adventures for you?

A Wonderful Discovery

I had a good weekend with the boyfriend, we saw Hacksaw Ridge which was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend it, though it is pretty gory but an amazing story.

Then he took me for frozen yogurt, i had only been once many years ago, and holy crap this stuff is amazing !!

All the deliciousness of ice cream with toppings and less calories!!

We also went for a run, well 3/4 run and 1/4 walk

And we went slooow.

I am still a little sick and weak.

I went for a run yesterday too and i could run for about 3-4 minutes with my heartrate in its normal range then it would jump up to the 190s and i’d slow down.

Also i don’t  think I’ve been drinkinh enough water so i need to up that.

I have been eating simple and inexpensive food

I’ve also been eating less lately, except the weekends when i eat out with the boyfriend several times.

I’ve been reading more which is awesome but the life of leisure is starting to wear on me, mostly because lack of funds os stressful. But I’m kicking it into gear studying for my personal training certification.

I’ll keep you posted.

In conclusion, head to a frozen yogurt shop ASAP.

Book Review: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

My coworker likes non-fiction books and gave this to me after she finished reading it. It was not quite what i expected, it was even better lol.

Yes it is about death and is a little dark but overall it is really funny and enteretaining and seriously educational!!! I learned so much about what happens to your body after you die and let me tell you I want a natural burial, no embalming so the earth can take me back and i dont pollute it.

Overall it was a fun, different, easy read.

Slight warning there are a few sort of gross parts (EX body fat melting out of the crematorium and getting all over everything) but i thought it was funny the way she described it.

Book on tape review

This book was interesting and I didn’t see the ending comeing. This was definitely a slow moving book, though that worked for me since I don’t always pay 100% attention to the books when I am running or working.

Overall I liked the book, I like slow build books just as much as jaw dropping books.

What kind of books do you like?

Yep this is the series True Blood is based on.

I have watched the entire series. I was through i think the 4th or 5th season of the TV showe before i ever knew there was a book series. This is book one, I got it during a sale on, you guessed it, Audible.

I enjoyed the book, i was supprised at how closely season 1 followed the book. There were of course differences, one major one is that Tara is not in the books, which for me was awesome because her character in the TV show was always pissing me off!

This was a fun read, easy to engage in while running or work or driving, doesnt take a lot of focus. I would suggest it for anyone who liked the show or enjoys this kind of genre.

This book was super fun because she has such a GREAT attitude and wit. She is funny! And of course i love listening to almost anything in an accident. You also get to hear from her trainer and his perspective and at the end she has a section where other people she has run with tell their stories.

It was good, fun, light hearted and great to listen to when running. Listening to her talk about her parts jiggling when she ran, while I ran was awesome. It is great to know that other people out there are also not perfect when they run.
