Tidbits from the week

Week 5 of the quarter done, officially half way through!!! If you don’t count finals week, which I don’t because the insane studying comes before that.

I spend about 3.33 hours a week on the train now, wow when I add it up it seems like so much, along with about another 1.67 hours walking to and from the train. Makes sense why I am blowing through a book on tape every other week hahaha. It also means I spend 3.33 hours a week trying not to fall asleep on the train and miss my stop and sometimes trying very hard to ignore the crazy people around so they don’t try and talk to me.

This was a drinking week for me hahaha I had pizza with Brandon one night and I got those little bottles of Sutter’s home wine it was a nice cheap buzz and another night I opened a bottle of wine that Brandon, that is the BF’s name lol, and I bought on our first roadtrip down to Medford, OR.

The train was running late one day so I walked to the next bus stop to get in some extra steps, it was sunny so I soaked up some vitamin D. Got to walk over a cool bridge.

Got in 2.3 miles of running on Tuesday morning.

She just looked so cute I had to take a picture, don’t judge the clothes on the floor, the next day was laundry day.

I wrote out my May calendar……yikes, that always looks so intimidating at the beginning of the month.

Made slightly healthier top ramen, broke college student over here!!!!!!!!!!!

My Bio lab teacher was looking through this coloring WORKBOOk (I have only looked at coloring books) to see if she liked it and it looked amazing! I totally want it but of course its $75 on amazon.

Wednesday was another beautiful day so Artemis and I soaked up some sunshine by going on a little 2 mile walk down by the river in between my classes.

I actually had Friday off from everything!!! NO work and no school so the BF and I jumped in his car and hit the road for a mini road trip and a hike. We went just outside of Bend to Smith Rock park and did just under 4 miles, we would have stayed out a little longer but some serious wind and clouds started rolling in so we got some dinner and headed home. We hit a little snow over the pass coming back toward Portland and didn’t get home until just after 9pm so it is good we left when we did. A few parts were steep and difficult but overall it was super fun!

And with that I actually accomplished my 3 workouts this week goal!!! Woohoo!!!

Book Review**The Anatomist’s Wife

This was a cute fun book. It took a little bit to get into it, the beginning was a little slow; which is interesting since there wasn’t much back story you just sort of jumped in. I read it in one day, it is not a difficult read, I sat down one Sunday after work when I had no HW and just read straight through.

Of course I loved the little bit of medical knowledge that was in here, after all everything I am doing right now is leading to becoming a doctor of physical therapy so I extra enjoyed that part.

It wasn’t a terribly deep book, there wasn’t much character development in my opinion (seems to be a theme with the books I have been reading lately lol, guess when I read right now I want a break from thinking hahaha).

Overall it was an enjoyable book and I would recommend it for a vacation or spring break type of book.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think?

Tidbits from the week

Well week two of spring semester is over and here is how it went:

I had all my HW for the beginning of the week done by Saturday morning! Score!! Sunday morning I spent a little time studying for the quiz I had on Monday and did a quick refresher Sunday night! Sunday morning I may have forgot to hit the snooze button and instead just turned my alarm off resulting in  an extra 40 minutes of sleep and waking up to the alarm telling me to head out the door, whoops!!!! Normally I make the 6:14am train but I thought there was a 6:29am train that would let me make it JUST in time…….except its the weekend so the next train wasn’t until 6:49! That would not work so I drove to work and parked on the street, meter parking sucks as does driving in Portland and running late meant I had no breakfast and no coffee. I ran down the street to get some coffee on my break and somehow paid more than I would have paid at Starbucks. But I got coffee and that is all that mattered!

Here is what I am currently listening to on my train rides and any walks with the dog. For running it will be this or something a little faster paced, like a murder mystery or thriller.

I got some meals prepped Sunday night but that was my dinner to eat at work, I didn’t get any lunch prepped to scarf down between classes, insert Subway.

I got an 80 on my first bio quiz, not horrible but not great. Just let’s me know what I need to work on.

I have company in the kitchen when packing my dinner for work, she likes to sit on the rug right under my feet, it has led to me tripping many times hahahaha

I have my dad’s old thermos that he used when he was a cop and man this baby is awesome! I fill it with hot coffee before I leave for class, around noon and I get hot coffee at 3, still at 5, still at 8 and it is even still warm the next morning!! It’s amazing!

All loaded up for work. I take my school work with me along with my suit jacket and heels to change into at work and my lunch. I think this thing gets heavier every week.

My one big adventure this week was my relief not showing up on time one night and I missed my train! Which is of course the last train of the night………thanks to data on my phone I was able to pull up the transit system website and plan my trip back to my car on a late bus, of course the bus didn’t arrive for 40 minutes so I got to sit at night at a bus stop for 40 minutes alone. Then I was so tired by the time the bus got there that I was a little in and out of it and dozed on the bus only to miss my stop!!!!! Thankfully someone pulled the stop in front of mine, I woke up and got off. I was home an hour later than normal but I got home safe and that is what matters.

First assignment due next Wednesday that deals with anatomy!!! Love it! But man is this complicated stuff! And its only the basics, but I got it hahahaha.

Hope you had a great week!!!!!

Book Review X2**Roses are Red and Violets are Blue

 (images are from google)

Howdy!! These two book are from the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. One of these I listened to as a book on tape and one I read the physical book that I found on sale in a little bookshop the weekend the boyfriend and I spent in Long Beach, WA.

I love series books because if you like the character you don’t just get one book then never read about them again, you really get to delve into their lives (yes I know they are fake people). When I find a character I like I love to keep reading their story. These are not difficult or time consuming books, there is no bigger picture to look for or anything that really needs a lot of brain power, which is probably also why I like them. You don’t really have to think, it is a nice break from the classics or books that make you dig deep, hmmm as I say that it doesn’t sound like a compliment to the book but I do mean it as a compliment. In our busy lives this is a great book to be able to read as an escape.

Warning: these books can be graphic, they are books about psycho murderers.

Book Review**Andromeda Strain

 (image from Internet)

I had seen this book a few times and of course the word andromeda is used in a lot of science fiction so i have heard it a lot. The book was definitely not what I thought it was going to be, I was expecting a thriller and fast paced I did not find it. I wasn’t bored, it is a short book after all, but it didn’t grip me.

It is an easy book to get through but not necessarily one I would recommend, not because it was bad but because there are so many books I have enjoyed more that I would recommend to someone.

Weekend Wrap-up

Howdy!

Friday the boyfriend and I thought we would go for a little hike. We picked a spot, got some snacks, and packed up the dog. I was excited for a fun hike, our first one together!! We get there and start walking up the trail and……….it’s almost all ice

This might not have a been problem if my shoes had better traction, if i wasn’t clumsy, and if the below dog didn’t like to run into me at full speed ans knock me over

I turned us around pretty quickly, so our hike eneded up being a grand total of .75 miles.

We picked up a pizza Friday night.

Another yummy pizza. Peperoni, sausage, onions and peppers.

Saturday we mostly relaxed, I got a delicious root beer float from A&W!!! Yumm, i hadn’t had one since September

Sunday was a study and read day for me

Got my HW done

Watched some old episodes of amazing race

Then decided I felt like reading

I had some company…….though my company kept passing some nasty gas

And i enjoyed a bottle of hard cider to go with it!

And now I’m tired and want sleep.

Weekend Wrap-up

My boyfriend lives an hour away so he usually comes out and spends the weekend, before he got to my place I set up a little study nest for myself.

I was sitting on this for hours while studying

It was killing my back so I made this

In order to study this

Friday night we watched some Vikings tv show, I had never watched it.

Saturday we took a roadtrip to the beach, just a day trip

We headed to Astoria and had lunch at the Wet Dog Cafe

Delicious!!!!

After lunch we saw some protesters

Then headed to an old fort that Lewis and Clark built to look around

Then we headed to an old military fort built in the civil war and decommissioned after WWII

After the forts we headed to Seaside and played in an arcade for a little over an hour hahahaha. Then we found a top 50 in America pizza place

It was delicious!!!!

The boyfriend and I LOVE pizza!!! This was so good, it was an olive oil based sauce, very creamy cheese, red onions, artichoke hearts and fresh basil.

Today was another relaxing day. Tomorrow it’s back to cracking the books.

A really good day

Buenos Nochas!!!!

Today was a really good day but we’ll start off with yesterday.

Yesterday was spent doing biology work all day. I had two biology lecture classes and two labs cancelled due to the college being shut down for inclement weather so we were assigned lots of work to do.

I was burned out by 9:30pm. I was working on my last assignment and got to the last question and low and behold I have to make a visual aid!!! It’s 10:30pm andy class is at 8am. Thankfully the Rite Aid down the street was open until 11am. So out I went, picked up some poster board and something to help me get through the next 2 hours

Thank goodness for 24 hour starbucks!!!

Also food was needed

Frozen burritos for the win.

Anyways i got everything done and was in bed by 1am.

In class this morning I had everything I needed which was awesome and felt great about the class and the information I absorbed.

In betweem class and lab I did some classwork and had a snack

I had to hit the student store for snacks because I woke up late due to being up late from doing HW but it all worked out. Lab went awesome as well and I left school feeling amazing!!! I finally feel like it’s all gonna work out and this is what I should be doing.

After school Artemis and I went out for a little run, it was 50 degrees outside and except for a little wind it was perfect running weather!!

There were a few spots that still had a little ice

But on the plus the path was pretty much deserted so I got to let Artemis off the leash a bit and she of course ran around in the mud.

She got some mud on her and then gave me a hug

It was a good run

After my run I scheduled my personal training certification exam for Monday!! Ahhhh!!!

I got some biology hw done then headed out and got some dinner. It was supposed to be TGIT tonight  (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder) but if course it got pushed to next week so instead I still got a bad (but unfortunately delicious ) dinner and spent the night reading the blog of a physical therapist student.

I spent a little over 3 hours reading the blog from beginning to now and loved it!!!!

I had movie on in the background and had a cuddle bug next to me

It has been a great day.

See you tomorrow !!!

A successful running date!!

Howdy all!!!

3 weeks ago i didn’t make it to the gym on a Tuesday until about 9pm and BAM! There was the TV show Bones on. I started watching Bones 12 years ago with my dad. I stopped watching it regularly about 2 years ago; lack of cable, life, etc got in the way. I had stared watching it again on Netflix a few weeks ago them BAM there was the current season. I watched about 30-40 minutes of it then was done with my workout. I had done the miles I had planned. Then i decided, what a great idea, each week I’ll head to the gym and have a little running date with Bones. As far as I’m concerned from 9-10pm it’s just me and Bones in that gym. And it gets me running for a solid hour, ok it gets me doing intervals of running and walking lol.

Post run date tonight.

I tried to start last week but the weather had other plans. Thankfully tonight we had rain instead of snow.

My view from the treadmill. Sorry for the bad picture hahahaha

I only got 3 miles in but that is the most I’ve run in awhile. And I’m very happy with it. From here it just goes up.

The pace is not great but that is ok cause i had a great night hahaha

In other news I had a delicious salad for lunch.

Got Artemis some new food to try. She is still loving romping around in what snow is left.

And the BF and I went to Color Me Mine for a totally cheesy date and made each other coffee mugs……but it was kind kf awesome and romantic too hahahahaha.

And I leave you with the current book on tape I am listening to.

How is life with you?

Comment and let me know what your most recent workout was?
