A new Adventure

Well another life adventure is underway, yesterday afternoon i got fired from my job. First time in my life I have ever been fired, it was not pleasant.

I feel very betrayed by several people in how it happened but that is life. That is all I am going to say about the job. I will focus on the positives this is a new opportunity for me! I haven’t been happy at my job in a long time, friendships I thought would hold true fell apart when I left to hike the trail and were never mended, so c’est la vie.

I can now focus on setting myself up with a job or jobs that I like. The 9-5 grind is not my dream so I am working on making my dreams come true. I’ll keep you posted as things advance.

Weekly Check in

Time to check in and see if i made it to all my workouts. Comments will be in bold.

Here was the plan:

Monday: Insanity Day 1 Did not happen, I came home and just wanted to cuddle with my dog.

Tuesday: PM Strength training and 1 mile fast (for me lol) 12 min mile pace then .1 mile hills x 6 at a 2 incline DONE!!!! Though it was 5 hills instead of 6 because i felt good and did the last hill as .2 miles instead of .1. It felt good, i wasn’t dead after which is awesome progress.

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: PM Strenght training and 2.5 miles at tempo (12:30, see i told you i am slow) did not happen, took the day off

Friday: OFF actually ran 1.5 miles before heading to the beach

Saturday: Am Spin class followed by 450m swim ran 1.5 miles on the beach and hiked up a giant sand dune

Sunday: 5 miles slow and yoga ran/walked 2.5 miles all over the beach  and up a giant sand dune

How i did: i feel ok with how i did but it could have been better

What i could have done better: not skipped Mondays workout

How was my food consumption: ugh not bad but not great. Ate out Thursday through Sunday

Comment and let me know how your workouts went this week.

Run like Hell 5k Review

Hi!!!

This is a very late post but here is my review for the Portland Run like Hell 5k.

Costumes were optional but the majority of people dressed up which made it so much fun!

My roommate and i dressed up as Batman and Robin.

Check in and packet pickup was pretty effortless for this race, it was very well organized. They had a small bag drop as well which was much appreciated becuase it was a little chilly and i had not bought a throw away jacket. They also provided some small snacks and water before the race which i was thankful for. There were a lot of porta poties, all clean, so very few lines.

The race itself was super fun, it ran through downtown Portland and was well maintained and coordened off. At about 2 miles they had an aid station which had water, some kind of electrolyte drink and were offering energy gels also if wanted, i split one with my roommate so we could make it through and speed up at the end.

After the race they had beer of course but they also had CIDER!!!

That made me happy and i was tipsy after 1.5 ciders, dont worry i wasn’t driving. They also were handing out chips, and peanut butter toast, and Cliff Bars. They were well stocked.

All in all our little group (there were 5 of us) had a blast!!! We all signed up for the Bridge to Brews 10k so we will see you in April!!!

Carra, my roommate, purchesed the medal to commemorate her first 5k!

Also even though i felt great and wasn’t really trying, i PR’d by about 20 seconds!!! Yay for training.

Here are a few of my stats.

Check out that hear rate! woot woot!

I Sit at a Desk All Day

Happy Thursday!!!!!

I don’t know about you but I sit at a desk all day, and as they are starting to tell us, that is bascially a death sentance. So I Googled some stretches you can easily (and inconspicuously) do at your desk. I have started doing them and they do help and feel good.

Obviously this feels super great since i am a runner and it stretches your IT bands.

This feel super great, especially if i slept funny and my back is tweaked.

These are awesome too to get the blood flowing and wake me back up in the afternoon.

Stretching is sooooo good for you, whether you sit at a desk or not get it some stretching today!!!!

Check in with a comment when you have stretched!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A rough start to September

Good Morning!!! I had several thoughts for a fun post yesterday about the start of September but i went home sick again and crawled straight into bed. The pup and I cuddled and i went to sleep. I got some McDonalds in my system and kept it down so that is good. Going home was good for me, I rested and slept and now i feel like i am on the other side of the sickness, we are heading back uphill!

I ordered this on Amazon to help clean me out and reset my colon health. I am also going to start taking a probiotic to get some good flora back in my gut.

I will tell you how it goes.

So back to it being SEPTEMBER!!! How did that happen?

When the fall starts to show and back to school happens I always think of the movie “You’ve Got Mail”.
