Weekly Workouts

The best laid plans..as they say.

I ran 3 miles on Tuesday and walked an additional 1.5 while the kids napped.

I was hoping to keep increasing my workouts and getting back to normal and guess what? Now I have an ear infection. It took 2 weeks of off and on pain getting worse for me to make a Dr appt. With 2 littles I just don’t have time to make superfluous Dr appointments, you know?

But when I couldn’t ignore the pain anymore I caved and yep! There’s an infection in my ear. So now after the colds we all had a few weeks ago, 3 out of the 4 in my little family have gotten ear infections, tell me they are not contagious again? Actually I am thinking whatever strain that cold was must really open you up to an ear infection. I’ve been on antibiotics for 48 hours and am just now starting to feel a reduction in ear pain. We will see how I feel come Monday for workouts. I’m also super tired though, don’t know if it’s the infection or the antibiotics or both.

Here’s to next week!!

How have your workouts been?

Weekly Workouts

I’m back!!!!

Ugh it feels like we had the cold that never ended. The kids got slight colds coming back from California, no surprise. They were starting to get better so we went out to some indoor play places, like those indoor playgrounds and we ALL got sick, worse this time. And then once the colds started to clear both kids got double ear infections. Yep, double ear infections.

Then for about a week after I stopped coughing up enough stuff that I would have been comfortable working out. I was still so exhausted from recovering from being sick and taking care of two little kids while being sick that I just had no energy to work out. My goal this week was three workouts and I hit it.

Tuesday – upper body burn from mbf on beachbody

Thursday – full body burn from mbf on beachbody

Friday – Lower body burn from mbf on beachbody

It looks like next week should be mostly dry for us so my goal will be 3 strength workouts and 1 run.

I have decided to drop down to a half marathon. My body just isn’t ready for a full after having 2 babies back to back. It was hurting too much after about 13 miles in my hips and tendons

Weekly Workouts

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday -OFF it’s been a weird week hahahaha

Thursday – 3 miles

Friday – OFF

Saturday – 18.5 miles……..was gonna try for 20 but it hurt so much, had to have my husband come pick me up since I was still a little over 1.5 miles from home.

I’m starting to think I might drop down to a half marathon. I’m just so tired. With 2 kids under 3 I have been sleep deprived for over 1.5 years now, I stopped doing cross training or weights because I’ve been so tired. I haven’t 100% decided to drop down to a half yet but I am seriously considering it.

I am a Runner

After so many years of not consistently running; moving in with my now husband, getting engaged, getting married, enjoying being married then kids. I find myself having to remind myself that I AM A RUNNER.

Even if I run slow, even if I have runs where I walk more than I run, even if I have bad training months, whether I finish first or last in a race (I have finished last lol) whether I run a marathon in 3 hours or 7 hours….I ran it…..I am a Runner.

For some reason now, I don’t know if it’s tackling the marathon or maybe having had kids, but I seem to be much harder on myself than I was 5 years ago when I was running. If I have a bad run or a run where I’m really tired or even a bad month of runs suddenly I think I’m not a good enough runner. I don’t remember ever feeling like that when I was training for half marathons before kids.

I think it might be because this has been such a bad month with my kids sleep and my stomach issues that I feel like I’ve backslid in my training a little. But I don’t ever want to be a perfectionist. So I have to continually remind myself that there will be seasons in life where it just doesn’t go the way I want it to.

But I am STILL a runner!!!!!

Weekly Workouts

My kids sleep has been HORRIBLE the past 2 weeks and it is catching up with me. Almost every night I have been up between 2-4 hours with one or both my kids. We have had teething and sleep regressions and who knows what. And for half that time my husband was out of town. I stayed with my in-laws then my mom came to town to help but in the middle of the night it was all me. I am so tired and so frustrated. One day we will get back to normal…….I hope…….please.
