Monday Motivation**April 16, 2018

I got in 1 run that was 2.3 miles on Monday then nothing until some gardening on Saturday, there is still just so much to do at the house. I don’t in any way feel like I am sitting on my butt every night so I can’t beat myself up too much.

We will see what this coming week holds.

Progress on the house

Thanks to this plastic bag protecting what has not been sealed we now have a working shower!!!!! It was AMAZING to take a shower in my own house for the first time in over a month hahahaha.

I am so in love with the tile. It turned out even better than I hoped.

Oh yes we did, it will go perfectly with the other décor hahahahah.

One of my birthday presents from Brandon was a new memory foam cooling mattress!!!! My mattress is now 14 years old and though it was a really good quality mattress it is starting to kill my back so new mattress time!

It takes up to 48 hours to fully re-inflate.

Now that the house is slowly coming together a steady cleaning schedule is developing which means I need a halfway decent mop. I found this on amazon, it is all reusable and refillable so I think this will be my starter mop.

Welcome to home ownership, you are constantly cleaning and take care of your house. I am slowly building weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly maintenance lists. BUT I LOVE IT!!!! It is our HOME and I want to have pride in it.

Look at that face!!!!

Oh my god she is so flipping cute!

Potato leek soup

I need to learn to talk slower in my videos, but I was also all over the place in this video hahahaaha.

The finished product, minus cheese and sour cream garnish. It was simple but delicious. Like a giant baked potato with all the trimmings.

Paired it with an apple, onion and cheddar grilled cheese for an amazing dinner!!

Some Tidbits on a Tuesday

This is how broke people trim their hair hahahaha. I have actually done this for years, I only pay for a haircut like once every 2 years. Since my hair is curly you can’t really tell if I don’t cut it totally even!

Got in a little run yesterday with the pup, it was beautiful out! I did couch to marathon day 3. It was a 5 min warm-up walk, then 7X of run 3 min, walk 2 min then 5 min cool down walk. Of course someone who runs faster is going to get farther than the 2.36 miles I got hahahaha but it was good. 1 run of a minimum of 3 this week, done!!!!!!!!

After my run I checked on my peas, beans and zucchini I had planted on Friday before the crazy storm hit here on Saturday and turned our yard into a pond. They survived!!! Everything was still upright and growing, my spinach looked a little worse for the ware so we will see what happens with that.

I got the email notification and my tomato plants and herb plants have shipped so I will probably need to plant those this weekend and I think some of my other starts are ready to get in the ground so it will be a busy planting weekend this weekend.

I also made some potato leek soup which I have a pictures and a little video but of course they are on my tablet and not my phone so I will post those tomorrow.

The BF and I avoided housework and watched a movie together. Housework piles up fast. Today or tomorrow I need to get on that hahaha.

Monday Motivation**April 9, 2018

I got in one run last week, my goal this week is 3 runs.

Apparently when it rains 1.25+ inches in 24 hours we get a little pond in our backyard. As we get settled we will be filling this in with more dirt.

My friend Amber got me this awesome map! it is so much fun to scratch things off it!! I can’t wait to scratch more!

Enjoying coffee on a quiet morning in one of the mugs I bought on my last trip!

Things are slowly getting organized and put away.

I did a little cleaning, also see the pretty flowers Brandon got me for my birthday!

The peas and beans started going crazy so I got them in the ground on Friday and Saturday we had to make an arc, I haven’t had time to see if they all survived, I will do that today after work.

Some of my food creations as of late. Packaged ravioli spiced up a bit with cheese, basil and fresh tomatoes.

Salmon with a mango cucumber salsa and a baked potato with all the trimmings.

Chicken with asparagus and shallots with an olive tapenade.

Weekend Wrap up

My birthday and the weekend!

I woke up to this awesomeness on my birthday courtesy of the BF

When I was 19 I wrote myself a series of letters to open every 5 years. They are pretty fun to read and see how my life plans have changed and stayed the same.

Birthday Dinner!

I shared a cocktail with Brandon. Hazelnut espresso or something like that

His dinner

My dinner.

Then we went to the movies, it is a movie theater/bar combo!

the movies are cheaper than a regular theatre but they get you will the drinks and food hahaha. I had 2 strawberry daiquiris (we saw 2 movies) big drinking day for me!

Brandon got me this for my birthday! He knows me so well! I am SOOOOO excited to cook some stuff!

Monday Motivation**April 2, 2018

Got in 2 runs this week! Neither were major runs but I am pretty happy with that. Another one is in the schedule for tonight then we are heading to Brandon’s Brother and SIL house to shower!!!! I get to wash my hair again!

The walls are coming along pretty quickly! I am super excited about that.

Does anybody else do this? Regrow some of their store bought veggies? Green onions regrowing in some water for the win!

My mom bought this for me a few years ago, time to dust it off and put it to work!

Out toilet is in!!!!!! We have a working toilet!

The spinach, iceburg lettuce, peas, and beans are all starting to pop up as well as the onions and after I took this picture the zucchini started pushing through the soil! I am so excited!

How cute is my little girl?! With her totally messed up little bed hahahahaha! New one will be happening soon but she is still ok with this one for now.

She is helping me clear out some of the backyard for planting, and by helping I mean totally getting in the way hahaha! We actually had sun this weekend! It was a beautiful Saturday. There are soooo many worms in the ground in our backyard, is that good or bad for growing food?

Until next time!

Midmorning snack- Slimfast or smoothie

Lunch- Soup or salad

Dinner- Anything I want as long as it is make at home

After dinner- tea or hot chocolate

I have been varying a little from the rest of this but I am eating small portions more frequently and I can feel a difference, it takes less food to get me full which is great so I am eating less overall I think.

Get A’s in all my classes this year. Final Grade: I got a C, but I already addressed that.

Take a few minutes every day to sit in quiet reflection, meditate, and do something spiritual. Continue last month’s 5 minutes a day and add in celebrating the new and full moon. Out of 31 days I did: about 5 min total unless you count 2 counseling sessions this month but that isn’t really quite or spiritual.

When move into the house, plant at least 3 plants each week. Number of plants planted: like 75 seeds started! and 8 actual plants planted!

Continue to work on and grow my relationship with Brandon. Continue to plan something every weekend and add in 1 night of cooking a meal TOGETHER every week.

4 weekend outings:

  1. We did a 2 mile run together 1 weekend which I count as a date because I LOVE running with him.
  2. Our date box night! which I reviewed a few days ago

4 meals cooked together: I pretty much did all the cooking this month since he is still slaving away in the bathroom.

Read 1 non-school book a month.

Books read this month: I have actually been reading a lot more this month and I love it. I have read the Tracy Crosswhite series on Kindle as well as a few others. I will try and get some reviews posted soon.

Date Night! Box

I put on a dress for the occasion, nothing fancy, tonight was all about a comfortable night in. He wore pajamas hahahahaha.

Date Box is a monthly subscription box where (almost) everything you need is delivered to you in a box for a fun date night in (or out if they have arrangements in your city and you choose that option).

The inside of the box.

Kettle corn was one of the snacks provided in the box. I had a lot of fun popping the corn, though once it started popping it was really hard to get the sugar and salt in there without losing a bunch of corn popping out of the pan! I ended up only putting in like 3 of the 7 sugar packets which worked out well anyways, Brandon prefers salty to sweet.

Apple cider for a drink (we also shared a coke zero)

Caramel apples were a bust, probably because I have no patience to cook the sauce correctly and it is difficult to keep a specific temperature on an electric stove, so I did a little improvising and made a caramel sauce to dip some apple slices in, though I ended up not really liking it but Brandon dipped his popcorn in it to make it caramel corn hahahaha.

The completed (kettle)popcorn

Our final food spread, we added the corn dogs, they seemed to fit with the theme.

After bring up the playlist for the night (more on that below) there are a few “conversation starters” they were totally corny but I actually really liked them. They made us think about what we liked in the other person, what about with each other made us better, what we like about having each other as support. I think even though its corny it is good for couples to take a few minutes and think about that kind of stuff, even if you end of laughing at the answers.

We laughed and joked and had a good time. He even sort of posed for the picture!

Overall we laughed and had fun and talked a little bit so I think it was a total success, but to be objective……the caramel apple sauce was pretty crappy and I read other reviews where people had issues with it too.

The escape room game was fun and cheesy but way easier than a real in person escape room (we did one about 2 months ago). Brandon didn’t like how easy it was, I will say I liked that they had a website to go with it that kept you honest about the hour time limit to the game and gave some hints as the time went on. We might not have figured out the first clue without the hints lol.

I liked that a spotify playlist came with the box to “set the mood” creating a playlist would have taken a lot of time and if I did it on my free Pandora there would have been ads. The playlist was also nice and long, it consisted of 42 songs, more than enough to fill the entire night with music.

You do need a few things for the box so be sure to flip through the directions and recipes before you sit down to do it. Since we just moved in and haven’t fully stoked our pantry Brandon had to hit the store on his way home from work for the few last minute things we needed (like the correct oil to pop the popcorn in).

Overall for the price, around $34 for the box, I think it was worth it. Going out would have probably added up to a lot more than that and this was snacks and an activity alonf with some bonding stuff. It was a little cheesy for Brandon but I think he had fun too. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next month. (I bought a 3 month subscription) At the end of the 3 months I will evaluate if I want to do another 3 months.

If you would like to try DateBox here is a link for $10 off your first box.

*This is not an ad, I paid for the DateBox subscription myself and am not getting paid for this post.
