It’s funny how our lives lives go through cycles, this time last year my life and my community consisted of hudreds of through hikers and through hiking blog readers. Some of that is still a part of my life, i may not be a through hiker but i am a hiker. But now i am back in Oregon and my life consists of going to work, working out, hanging at home with my dog and the occasional date. Yes i am part of the running community and am becoming part of the triathlon community but i am very much alone up here.
Don’t worry this is not a pity party post.
But really, none of my immediate family is here, i have no close friends here. The one wonderful woman i hung out with on a regular basis moved to the other side of the country. I am averaging seeing 1 other woman and her fiance about once every other month. But that is it. So it’s time to take the bull by the horns.
I have made exercise a priority and now meeting people will be as well.
I have joined 2 book groups and RSVP’d to these groups April event so yay.
Also i joined a few running groups and RSVP’d to a short run the weekend after the tulip festival ends. I WILL put myself out there. I need to build a base of people here.
If you are interested in meeting people I used Meetup.com there is something for everyone.
On a side note i got lots of planting done last night!
Planted 3 small rows of onions in this 10 gal smart pot
Got 2 rows lf corn and peas in each brown planter and planted 2 potatoes in the potato bag
The bottom opens for easy harvesting!
How are you?
How long did it take you to establish your base of people where you live now?
How did you do it?
We made it past the half way point!!!
Swam this morning
My photography skills leave something to be desired.
My lunchbox these days, filled to max.
I had a suprise on my desk this morning!!!! Groot!!!! This little guy is so cute and i always played with my co-workers so she bought me one!!!!!! Probably because i threatened to steal hers…………….
This is part of tomorrow lunch but i just wanted a little taste test………..you ready? This is coleslaw mix from the grocery store and……top ramen!!! With some green onions sprinkles on top. Not too shabby.
And last but not least
I started a little lettuce garden. I’m not sure i filled the pot enough though. Guess we will find out.
How was your Wednesday?
Are you doing any gardening this year?
The rain managed to actually stay away most of the weekend which was lovely. It hit Saturday night and late today afternoon/evening.
Last night poor Artemis didnt feel too good. Her tummy was making all kinds of crazy sounds and she wasn’t hungry. She got better though thankfully and when i woke up her food was eaten and she has gotten better and better today.
My guess is she either ate something she shouldn’t have or just had a little upset tummy. Either way it just needed to work its way out of her system which it did today.
The roomies and i FINALLY took our tree down…….yes i mean Christmas tree lol. It only took us until March..not too bad right? Lol
On another but way worse roomie note, my roommates care got stolen out of our driveway last night?! I feel so bad for her. I am so thankful my car has an alarm and GPS so the cops can track it if anything ever happens. Knock on wood.
Other sad news i own almost 5k in medical bills from my surgery in October. Insurance denied my paying more because it was an out of network provider. Oy, this being an adult stuff rocks. Thankfully i can set up a payment plan.
In happier news…..
The tomato and pepper starters are exploding!!!
I am so excited!
Also i ran 4 miles today!!! And the 4 miles we outside!!!!
Artemis ran the first 1.5 miles with me then she got tired so i dropped her off at home. Shes getting over her tummy troubles so i didn’t want to push it.
So i workout a pretty good amount. These are the things that help keep me going. Along with pre-workout, protien and recovery but ill talk about that another day.
I also did a lot of reading this weekend which was glorius.
Do you take any suppliments?
What’s the weather like where you are?
If you have dogs, do they run with you?
Happy Friday!!! Like so many Americans i live for the weekends.
Today will be a short and sweet post.
Got up and took Artemis for a walk/jog before work. I think thats a really good time to walk her because there are less people out and about. I think as it continues to warm up we will be good running buddies.
I thought that was a good quote.
Reached my step goal! Woot Woot!
The tomatoes and peppers are doing awesome!!!!
I am so grateful for my sweet girl. She has cuddled with me many a night that i have cried or just needed some cuddles during this breakup and all the drama with it. I am sad again tonight and having her here is a great comfort.
Goodnight i hope you had a great Friday night!
The sun is actually out here today in the Pacific Northwest so i just went for a little walk on my lunch and soaked up a little natural vitamin D.
I just ordered this:
So i can get my tomatoes and peppers started inside in the next few weeks.
I also set up my farming fridays wishlist on amazon:
I like wish lists on amazon because they dont clutter up my cart and whenever i have a little extra income……hahahaha like that actually happens, i know where to go to grab 1-2 things.
While i was at it i made one for working out stuff too
I just bought new running shoes off amazon!
Thankfully it is a brand i already use so i know my size and all that…….$31 on amazon!! How awesome is that!!!! In about a 5-6 weeks i’ll pop into the REI near me and see if they have any running shoes on clearance so i can have 2 pairs to switch back and forth with.
So as i said i have a 5k run tomorrow, yay! My goal is to be 1 minute (or more) faster than my time from December, Sunday will be yoga. Those are the only set in stone plans i have, some reading would be good.
What are your weekend plans?
Any Races? Workouts?
How often do you buy new workout shoes?
Todays running tip. This is actually a good idea the way they do this, especially since i dont have any ice packs.
Found this on pintrest and i’m pretty stoked with how it turned out.
I got compliments on my hair today.
She will chew anything.
Half marathon training starts in earnest next week!
I ordered some seeds!!
Next month i will start the indoor sow.
Here are the seeds I’ve boughten so far
I can’t wait to see if this corn turns out!!!
Christmas eve i enjoyed the house to myself and made a salmon pasta dish from blue apron.
Weeks later and i still love the ease with which they make cooking. I love that there is little to no excess, everything is used in the cooking.
And it is good quality.
Leftover pasta water
Christmas morning i got in a good workout.
40 min on the bike
40 min on the treadmill
My hair is pincurled during my workout for christmas celebration
Dressed up for Christmas
I went to my roommate’s family gathering. It was quite fun!
They live on an old farm with a good amount of property and i want it!!!! Lol.
I even got a little gift of stocking stuffers from them they made me feel veey welcome.
How was your Christmas?
