Fall 2018 school week 1

Hi!!!! Well I have survived my first week of the new quarter!

I am taking PSY 237 which is Life Span development, basically it looks at a person from conception to death, this class is online. My 2nd class is Anatomy and Physiology 2, i have lecture 2 nights a week and lab one afternoon a week. Had to do a little switching around with my work schedule to make it all work, I now have no weekend lol. I still have 2 days off work but they are spread apart. One of my days off I have lab that day. This was the only class that even halfway worked with my schedule, thankfully another girl at work is a student and a class she wanted to take worked out perfectly if we switched one of our days with each other. So I have 1 full day off from everything the next month. That may be the one day i devote to my relationship because anatomy is no joke and i plan on rocking this class. Thankfully my fiance and soon to be husband is so supportive of me going to school.

I think PSYCH will be pretty easy. Online classes, as long as they aren’t math or science, are usually pretty easy to me. They definitely can take more time because you usually have extra work to do since there is no in class work but i love that i can sit down whenever i have time in between the rest of my schedule and knock out whatever i need to do.

Now for the good stuff: A&P!!!! I transferred to a different community college this year since the fiance and i moved to a new city, this is actually the school where i will be applying to the nursing program, no names of course so i can keep talking about it. The price per unit is roughly the same but man they must have extra funding somewhere because WOW, infinitely nicer digs. We each have our own microscope in lab and are you ready for this……….they have a cadaver lab!!!!!! in a community college!!! I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to learn on a real human body.

We got out first introduction to the cadaver lab this week. I really appreciate that they put a big emphasis on respect, these people donated their bodies to science not to be played around with. We got to see 2 of the 4 bodies. The first was a female who had 1 leg partially dissected so you could see the skin, the adipose layer and the muscle underneath then her neck was dissected so you could see the muscles, arteries trachea. Her abdomen was also pretty fully dissected so we could see the viscera, it was so interesting!!! The second body was a male and it was dissected to be able to see all the muscle, one side was superficial muscle and the other was deep muscle. This cadaver will be my best friend for a bit as we currently need to learn 160 muscles in about 2 weeks!!!!

We also did a little review of A&P 1 and wow am i rusty, it is time to review! As well as cram all the new knowledge into my head!!! My teacher seems really awesome too so fingers crossed this is going to be a great semester!!!!

We have to be able to identify all these on a model, a diagram and……..a cadaver……in 1.5 weeks.

4 weeks until the wedding!! odds and ends

Hi!!! School started this week but i will post more on that on Friday. Here is a little look on how the week has been going so far:

Someone gave me a donut filled with coffee creme and a rum shot hahahaha

Coffee is a must and energy drinks are making an appearance again, the first few weeks of a new quarter are always rough for me to get a new school, work, and study schedule worked out.

I am in love with those prepackaged salads right now!! This one is called sunflower crunch!

Brandon was out of town for work, thankfully he is back now, while he was gone she cuddled with me a lot.

working on a few wedding hairstyle ideas.

Fall is here!!!!…………Some days………. last week was low 70s and mid 60s this week is mid 80s!!

More snuggles

Morning Shakology!!!! i mix it with my coffee for the perfect breakfast….though it takes me some time to wake up!

Go a quickie run in Monday night after class

Followed by this awesome dinner!! Brandon and I shared the Cornish game hen. They are adorable but not that much meat on them, probably why it was only $3 and grocery outlet, still tasted delicious though!

AHHHHHHH! we hit the 1 month mark!!!

My sad sad attempt at taking a picture through the microscope of skeletal muscle.

Tune in Friday for more talk about school!!! WARNING: I SEE DEAD PEOPLE!

July 29, 2018

I feel like I did so much and yet so little this weekend. Got two great workouts done and spent hours out of the house exploring and also spent a full afternoon/evening doing HW. But I got NO housework done, no meal prep, no canning/food saving. It was a successful and unsuccessful weekend hahaha.

We have been hot here this week, mid to high 90’s the whole time. Today we are supposed to get close to 100 then we start swinging down and are supposed to be in the low 80’s by Thursday.

My drive to work.

Every day a few more tomatoes are starting to turn a light orange-y, pink meaning in just a few more days they will be ready to pick. Zucchini are still going strong, I just pulled 3 HUGE ones from the bottom of the bush that had been forgotten. I need to pick a few peppers and oh man, our cucumber plants are just really starting, i have 5 pint jars of refrigerator pickles in the freezer and 4 cucumbers on the counter i need to can.

Chili for dinner!!

I have 3 weeks left of school, the next 2 are going to be a bit crazy because i have something due every day except Saturdays. With that i can feel the garden gearing up to explode more zucchini and tomato on me and i am just praying it can hold out for 2-3 more weeks when I will be able to devote a lot more time to canning and dehydrating and preserving.

And now i need to get back to school work. I currently have A’s in both my classes and i am keeping it that way!!!!!

When you should do more HW and workout but you are tired so you stop in the middle to watch Chuck, be a dork and go to sleep early.

Good night.

July 26, 2018

Hello!!! So happy it is my Friday!

I have HW to do tomorrow then I think Saturday we are going to go visit his grandparents on their farm. I LOVE where they live. I think they are on about 10 acres and have like 10 cows. I think they got 2 calves this year, I can’t wait to see the baby cows!!!! They also have a million blackberry bushes so i will be bringing homes like 20lbs of blackberries. But i’ll stop before I get carried away, you can see it all when I blog about it hahaha.

Today’s plan:

Try and get some more HW done at work to make tomorrow go a little easier.

1.5 mile run with sprints…….in the 98 degree heat (date night!!! lol)

Taco salad was the plan but instead I ate some cookie dough and homemade guacamole and was way too full. I wanted to puke a little during my run. But I got through it.

Now a movie at home to complete the date night.

And babe made some fried zucchini that was to die for!

July 24, 2018

I know we are still smack dab in the middle of summer but since I am out watering every day and plodding away in the garden and watching my food grow; I can already see and feel fall coming in the mornings and evenings. Which I am super excited about because Autumn is my favorite month but for the first time I am thinking, “Summer, don’t go too fast…..I want more food hahahaha.”

Here in the pacific northwest by the time the summer solstice hits we have sun from like 4:15am to 10-10:15pm. Now just over a month past the solstice the sun is behind the last houses by 9pm and it is just starting to peak over the horizon when I get a quick morning water in at 5:40am to stave off the 98 degree weather. A quick hit of the hose in the AM means I don’t come home to wilted plants at 5pm. I do the major watering after i get home from work.

Today is a medium busy day for me, I am working until mid-afternoon then meeting my friend for a coffee and a chat

then heading home to get in a quick 1.5 mile run

then making some delicious stuffed zucchini.

We opened our first batch of homemade refrigerator pickles and they are DELICIOUS!!!! I wanted to eat the entire pint jar in one sitting……and no I have not been a major pickle lover my whole life.

Got tomorrows HW done today for the win! Staying ahead is game changing.

Life Changes and So Must We

Hi!!!!! I originally set this blog up to chronicle my journey hiking the PCT, AT and CDT but plans changed. While that is still a goal for me one day, my foreseeable plans have changed so I thought the blog needed a bit of an updated look.

My life is now about becoming a nurse, getting back into shape and turning our quarter acre plot of land into a little farm, or at least as much of a farm as he will let me hahahahaha!!!!

There will still be hiking, running and food posts plus so much more! I hope you will continue this journey with me!

Back to school!!

After everything this year I am finally ready to go back to school!

I am registered for 2 summer classes, 2 fall classes and will register for 2 winter classes (My school does quarters not semesters) then come February I am apply to nursing school!!!!!!! Ahhhhh it’s finally time!!!
