I subjected mom to her first video, i figured she better get used to it.
What do you guys think?
I am finally starting to feel better, KNOCK ON WOOD!!! I went out for a short walk today and saw some wild horses. I am happy i got out and walked, i did 2.4 miles, not much but it is a start. I think tomorrow i should be able to get back out and do some more. Thankfully it is supposed to keep getting warmer everyday through the weekend all the way up to the 60s.
Oh and no, i don’t live in the mansion on the hill…i wish lol
Talk to you soon!
Hi everyone!!!! Things are good here, still fighting this cold, sinusitis, whatever it is. I’m sick of being sick.
We are down to Just over 20 days until I leave for southern California. It’s coming fast!
So my first paycheck was just for the week I worked in January but I was able to cross some important things off my list.
My Sun hat and mosquito head net. It’s Ok, you can admit that it’s sexy hahahaha.
A small field repair kit to fix anything that breaks/rips on my tent, sleeping bag, backpack etc.
Biodegradable all-purpose cleaner.
Toe socks! Injinji toe socks, they are supposed to seriously cut down on the blisters. Everything is laying out to dry after I washed it.
Exofficio underwear. They are wicking, quick drying etc.
Lots and lots of ibuprofen. Otherwise referred to as vitamin I. Its a joke because you end up taking so much on the trail.
Cold weather beanie. Got it on sale!
My first buff. A buff is like a bandana but it’s stretchy, moisture wicking, quick dry, etc. I got it on clearance for $7!!! They only had one kind so mom and I ended up with matching buffs lol. I still need to buy a second one.
Poison ivy wash. I think this is self explanatory lol. No poison ivy or poodle dog Bush is going to stop me!
And finally I leave you with a picture of the insanity that is my planning and prepping.
Talk to you soon!!!!!
Hi everyone!!!!! I hope everyone is doing well. Sadly my antibiotics ended and within 4 days I was feeling sick again. I’ll have to call my doctor and get a stronger, longer dose. I also think this is the universe telling me to start tapering off my subbing until the trail. I think I’ll limit myself to 3 days a week now and 2 weeks before we leave I’ll take it down to 2 days a week. This way I’m still earning some money but am giving myself lots of rest and prep time.
Anyways my dehydrator is going pretty much every day. I’m starring to pack my food up in 1 day quantities.
This way I don’t have to search for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks everyday.
I already have mom and I’s 9 days of food all packed up.
So this is what we will have in our packs when we start the trail.
Amazon and Costco are my food buying friends. I am ordering from Amazon at least once a week lol
I’ve also started buying VIA coffee and refreshers for the trail.
The VIA coffee I am putting in little baggies with sugar and non-fat milk powder so all I have to do is add hot water.
We tried the VIA today and wow did mom not like it lol. I think she was expecting home brewed coffee or her frappachino instead of instant coffee and dry milk powder hahahahaha. Reality check mom, when you need a caffeine boost just chug it, its not gonna taste amazing. The sacrifices we make on the trail.
So today i am mainly sitting on the couch, playing on the computer with the TV on in the background.
I am rereading old posts by my favorite (so far lol) PCT thru hiker.
I think i may have mentioned her before. I am also reading her other site, serial nomad. I am also playing candy crush saga and drinking Starbucks. There is of course food going in the dehydrator. I shot a quick video to update you. Please excuse the 2 day slept in braids, the pajamas, the looking like crap lol. When i am sick i pretty much just don’t give a crap. I think it is time to try out that old wives tale where you cut open an onion and sleep with it by your bed. I will try just about anything at this point. Hope you enjoy me looking my worst!!!
